Character Creation

The process of defining a character’s differential mental and physical qualities. A character’s individual strengths and weaknesses are represented by a set of personality traits, skill levels, how they think, feel, and behave. In the context of animation how they fit into the storyline and how they portray those characteristics.

Character Animation

The animation process, involves bringing animated characters to life, making them appear realistic. Imagery is created, altered, and enhanced for moving media or film in the context of the story line in ways that cannot be accomplished during a live action shooting. The role of a Character Animator is analogous to that of a film or stage actor.

Lighting

Lighting or illumination is the deliberate use of light to achieve practical or aesthetic effects. Using LEDs for more than just a light source is a trend taking off in filmmaking. By using them for subject lighting, practical interactive effects, and as markers, VFX Animators at Magic Room are making new use of such a dynamic tool achieving cutting edge results.

Compositing

Compositing is the process of combining multiple visual elements from separate sources into single images or sequences. VFX animation compositing combines elements, images, and footage. The use of green screen footage will show a subject in front of the screen and then composite it by combining the subject with action in the background.

Color Keying

Live action shooting for compositing utilizes Chroma Key, Blue Screen and Green Screen techniques. The technique allows the animators to remove a single color usually the background of a video recorded in front of an evenly lit blue or green screen. When editing in post-production these techniques are used to composite two scenes together creating dynamic special effects.
